This week, ParentCamp team member, Jeremy Bond (@JeremyDBond) is back with us talking about Communication – but with a focus on the high school level. He will be fresh off of a parent/teacher night with his daughter who is in high school.
Jeremy Bond attended his first ParentCamp at the U.S. Department of Education in 2015, moderated a packed breakout session and would return the following years as a ParentCamp Board member and facilitator. During this same period, in 2015 Jeremy joined the first global Digital Citizenship Summit in his town of West Hartford, Connecticut, then followed the annual summits to Twitter headquarters in San Francisco; Provo, Utah; and St. Louis, serving as a panelist. Jeremy has approached all of these summits and other education-related conferences, and his active online learning community, from the standpoint of being a parent. Jeremy advocates for the voices of parents and families as a regular Twitter chat moderator and participant, as a guest on online and offline forums and podcasts, and as a graduate of a Parent Leadership Training Institute program, among other roles. This experience, as well as training and background in journalism, have shaped his passion and growing understanding of digital citizenship and media literacy. Jeremy is communications, media, and publications manager for Connecticut’s State Education Resource Center, whose professional learning opportunities and resources support equity and excellence in education.
